EvenOut has no payment fees and no daily expense limit on its free plan, while Splitser charges €0.35 for each payment made through the app, as of October 2026. In Splitser you create a list, add people by invitation link or by name, and log each expense with who paid and who shares it. Offset all balances settles the list and cannot be undone.

Key points:
- EvenOut has no payment fees because it records payments and does not move money. Splitser charges €0.35 for each payment made through the app, as of October 2026.
- EvenOut's free plan has no daily expense limit and no ads, and one group holds up to 200 people against 150 in a Splitser list.
- Offset all balances settles the whole Splitser list, creates a PDF and cannot be reversed. In EvenOut a recorded payment can be deleted and restored.
- A Splitser list holds up to 150 members, and you can add a person by name before they have an account, then link their expenses when they join.

## How do you create a list in Splitser?

A list is Splitser's name for a group, such as one holiday, one household or an ongoing record with a partner. As of October 2026 a list holds up to 150 members, and everyone on it can enter expenses.

1. Open **Lists** in the main menu and tap the blue plus button.
2. Type a list name and, if you like, add a list image.
3. Choose the list currency and tap **Next**.

Pick the currency you will settle in, not the one you spend most of. Say a group spends pounds on a weekend in the UK but plans to settle in euros. Leave the list in euros, and each pound expense is converted to euros at the rate at the time you enter it. The balance and the settlement are both in euros.

## How do you add people who do not have Splitser?

Share an invitation link, add someone from your Splitser contacts, or create a participant by name. Anyone who opens an invitation link has to accept it before they join the list.

To add a person with no account, open **List info**, choose **Add participant**, type a name, tap the blue plus button and finish with **Add participants**. You can log expenses for that person straight away. When they later accept an invitation they pick their own name, and every expense already entered links to their account.

To remove someone, open the list settings and tap their name. Splitser only lets you remove a person whose balance is 0.

## How do you add an expense and choose the split?

Open the list, go to the **Transactions** tab and tap the blue plus button. The type at the top starts on Expense.

1. Type a description and the total. A calculator is built in for sums.
2. Change the currency if the expense was in another one. Splitser converts it to the list currency at the rate at the time you enter it, and remembers your choice for the next expense.
3. Attach a picture, such as a receipt, if you want one.
4. Check **Paid by**, which starts as you, and change it to log an expense for someone else.
5. Check the date, which starts as today.
6. Choose who contributes. **Everyone 1x** splits equally. Change a person to 2x or 3x for a bigger share, or tap the amount behind a name to type a specific amount.
7. Tap **Save** at the top right.

Splitser keeps every balance exact to the cent. A €10 expense shared by three people comes to €3.33 each, which adds up to €9.99, one cent short, so one participant, picked at random and never the payer, pays €3.34.

If a balance does not change after you add an expense, the people who should contribute were not ticked, or the only person ticked was the payer.

Two other transaction types and two options cover the rest:

- **Income** is the opposite of an expense, such as a deposit handed back that you want to share out.
- **Transfer** records money given outside Splitser, such as an advance for a trip, a personal loan or a part payment of a balance. The payer's balance goes up and the receiver's goes down.
- **Recurring** is set by tapping the date field and using the recurrence setting under the date picker. To stop one, find any of its expenses in the transaction list, tap **Change** and use the date field.
- **Groups** inside a list tick a set of people in one tap when you enter an expense.

## How do you settle up in Splitser?

There are two routes, and one of them cannot be undone.

- **Settle only your own balance.** On the **Balance** tab, tap your name. Under your balance, Splitser suggests payments or payment requests that bring you to 0.
- **Settle every balance.** On the **Balance** tab, tap **Offset all balances**, read the preview and confirm. All transactions are archived and every balance goes to 0. The settlement moves to the **Settlements** tab with a PDF listing every transaction, and Splitser emails everyone, asking for payment where someone owes money.

A settlement cannot be reversed, so have everyone enter their expenses first. The list stays usable afterwards: add new expenses and settle again. Splitser's settlement algorithm minimises the number of mutual payments, the same aim as [simplify debts](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/how-simplify-debts-works), which cuts the number of payments without changing anyone's total.

Your balance is what you paid, minus your share of each expense, with income and payments counted too. Tap a participant and then the balance to see every transaction behind it.

## What does Splitser cost?

As of October 2026 using Splitser is almost entirely free, and the charges come with paying through the app. A payment made through the app carries a service fee of €0.35 per transaction, and linking a Dutch or Belgian bank account costs a one-off €0.35. You can pay up to €950 and receive up to €2,500 every 24 hours through iDEAL | Wero or Bancontact.

Say six people settle a list with 5 payments, all made through the app. That is 5 × €0.35, or €1.75 in service fees. If one person owes €1,100, that share is over the €950 limit, so the other €150 has to wait or be paid another way and logged as a transfer.

## How do you move a Splitwise group into Splitser?

Splitser has an importer that reads a Splitwise export.

1. In Splitwise, open the group and export it as a CSV file. Save the file.
2. Log in to Splitser, or create an account first.
3. Press **Start import**, pick the CSV, choose your own name from the list and press **Create list**.
4. Wait a few minutes for the transactions to show up, then share an invitation link. Your friends choose their own name when they join.

EvenOut has a free import of its own, which [moves a Splitwise group](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/move-splitwise-group-to-evenout) into one new group.

## How do EvenOut, Splitser, Tricount and Splitwise compare?

As of October 2026, EvenOut's free plan has no daily expense limit and no ads, and its groups hold up to 200 people, against 150 in a Splitser list and 50 in a tricount.

| App | How people join | Free plan |
|---|---|---|
| EvenOut | A link that works for several people for 30 days, or a guest added by name; up to 200 people per group | No daily expense limit and no ads; Pro (receipt scanning and the assistant) is $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year in the US |
| Splitser | Invitation link, contacts, or a participant added by name; up to 150 members per list | Almost entirely free; €0.35 per payment through the app |
| Tricount | A link, up to 50 people per tricount including you | Its site says no ads or daily expense cap |
| Splitwise | Invited by email, phone or link; people invited by email or phone can be added before they accept | Up to 4 expenses a day |

EvenOut uses different names for the basics: a group instead of a list, **By shares** instead of 2x and 3x, and a **Settle up** screen that records a payment. It does not move money, so it has no payment fees, and a recorded payment can be deleted and restored later, which a Splitser settlement cannot. Each expense keeps its own currency, with a separate balance per currency. [EvenOut vs Splitser](https://www.evenoutapp.com/compare/splitser) compares the two feature by feature.

## Which app fits your group?

The group's situation decides it.

- **You want no payment fees and a free plan without a daily cap.** EvenOut records payments and has no ads, and Splitwise's free plan allows up to 4 expenses a day.
- **The group is large.** An EvenOut group holds 200 people, a Splitser list 150 and a tricount 50.
- **The group uses Dutch or Belgian bank accounts and wants to pay from inside the list.** Splitser links those accounts and pays through iDEAL | Wero or Bancontact, at €0.35 a payment.
- **The group wants every expense converted into one currency.** Splitser, Tricount and Splitwise Pro convert. EvenOut tracks each expense in its own currency and does not convert.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you delete a list in Splitser?

No. A list holds the expenses of several people, so Splitser does not let you delete it. You can leave a list by swiping left over it in the list view or from the list settings. To close your account, every list balance must be at 0, then open Account, My Profile and use the link there. Closing by email is not accepted.

### What does a crossed-out transaction mean in Splitser?

It was deleted. A deleted transaction stops counting toward balances, but it stays on the list, crossed out, until every balance on the list is settled, so everyone can see what happened. In EvenOut a deleted expense also shows crossed out in the Activity tab, and it can be restored from its page.

### What if I lose access to the email on my Splitser account?

Splitser cannot move an account to a new email address for security reasons. Create a new account and ask to be invited back to your lists. Then move your balance across by adding an expense between the participant on your old account and the participant on your new one.

### Is Splitser the same as WieBetaaltWat?

Yes. Splitser is called WieBetaaltWat in the Netherlands and Flanders. It is one group-expense service under two names.
