EvenOut's free plan has no daily expense limit and no ads, and its charts, search and repeats are free too. Tricount, KittySplit and Splitkaro also say their free plans have no expense cap. Splitwise's free plan allows up to 4 expenses a day, and Pro removes it. Settle Up and Splid state neither a cap nor its absence.

Key points:
- EvenOut sets no daily expense limit on its free plan. Abuse guards sit at 1,000 new expenses and payments a day and 30 a minute, and edits and deletes do not count.
- EvenOut's free plan also has no ads and includes charts, search, repeating expenses, reminders and the Splitwise import. A group holds up to 200 people.
- Splitwise's free plan allows up to 4 expenses each day. Pro removes the limit, and the US-only Splitwise Card does too.
- Tricount says "No ads or daily expense cap". Its terms call about 100 transactions per account "advisable" and name no hard cap.
- KittySplit's free Kitty has no expense limit but holds 9 people. Splitkaro's Free column shows a cap on creating groups and gives no number.

## Which Splitwise alternatives have no daily expense limit?

Four apps say so: EvenOut, Tricount, KittySplit and Splitkaro. EvenOut also has no ads and free charts, search and repeats. Settle Up and Splid state neither a cap nor the lack of one. The table also lists the other limits and exceptions each app names. As of October 2026:

| App | Expenses on the free plan | Other limits or exceptions |
| --- | --- | --- |
| EvenOut | No daily expense limit | Abuse guard of 1,000 new expenses and payments a day (details below), 200 people per group |
| Splitwise | 4 expenses each day. Pro removes it | The US-only Splitwise Card also removes it |
| Tricount | "No ads or daily expense cap" | Terms call about 100 transactions per account "advisable" |
| KittySplit | No limit on expenses in a free Kitty | 9 people. Super Kitty, €2.99 once per group, allows 100 |
| Splitkaro | Core app free "forever", no cap on expenses or friends | Free column shows a cap on creating groups, no number given |
| Settle Up | Neither a cap nor its absence is stated | Premium list names no cap |
| Splid | Neither a cap nor its absence is stated | None stated. The US listing shows two in-app purchases, $3.99 and $2.99 |

## What is Splitwise's limit, and how do people get past it?

Free Splitwise accounts can add up to 4 expenses each day, and Pro removes the limit. Splitwise gives users three routes: subscribe to Pro, wait until the limit resets, or ask a friend to add the expense as paid by you. Splitwise gives its reason as keeping the business "financially sustainable".

The US-only Splitwise Card is a fourth route. Splitwise says using it adds expenses without a Pro subscription. The Card is rolling out to eligible Splitwise Pay users, who must be US residents aged 18 or over and pass identity checks. The [Splitwise daily limit guide](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/splitwise-daily-limit) covers the workarounds in more detail.

## What does 4 a day mean for a backlog?

At 4 a day, the time to catch up is the number of expenses divided by 4, rounded up to whole days. Two cases:

- **Month-end bills.** Rent, electricity, water, internet, phone and streaming are 6 bills. Add 3 grocery receipts and that is 9 expenses. At 4 a day, 9 ÷ 4 = 2.25, so it takes 3 days.
- **A trip backlog.** You come home with 36 receipts. At 4 a day, 36 ÷ 4 = 9 days.

An app with no daily allowance takes both in one sitting. EvenOut paces new expenses and payments at 30 a minute (one every 2 seconds) and 1,000 a day, which leaves both cases far inside the guard.

## EvenOut: no daily expense limit, with abuse guards

EvenOut has no daily expense limit on the free plan, and no cap on how many groups, friends or expenses an account holds. A few guards exist against abuse, and a normal person will not meet them:

- **People:** up to 200 per group, and 100 new friends a day.
- **Expenses and payments:** 30 created a minute and 1,000 a day. Edits, deletes and repeats do not count.
- **Comments:** 30 a minute and 1,000 a day.
- **Repeating expenses:** 50 open per group or friend.
- **One expense:** 200 items, and amounts up to 9,999,999,999.99.

The two Pro features, receipt scanning and the assistant, have their own usage caps. Pro costs $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, and everything else in EvenOut is free.

## Tricount: no daily cap, and 100 transactions is advice

Tricount's website says "No ads or daily expense cap", and its US app listing says "No subscription, no hidden fees, no limit on tricounts or expenses". Its terms advise keeping an account to a reasonable period and volume, about 100 transactions. That is advice, and the terms do not name a hard cap. [EvenOut vs Tricount](https://www.evenoutapp.com/compare/tricount) compares the rest, and the [Splitwise vs Tricount comparison](https://www.evenoutapp.com/alternatives/splitwise-vs-tricount) puts all three free plans side by side.

## KittySplit and Splitkaro: no expense cap, other caps

KittySplit's free Kitty lists no limit on expenses, comments or categories, but it holds up to 9 people. Super Kitty costs €2.99 once per group, is not a subscription, and raises the size to 100.

Splitkaro's pricing page says the core app is free forever with no limit on expenses or friends. Its Free column also shows a cap on creating groups, and no number is given. Its Premium FAQ says Free covers 3 receipt scans a month.

## Settle Up and Splid: nothing stated either way

Settle Up's Premium page lists ten items, among them ad removal, receipt photos, recurring transactions, reminders, Excel export and charts. None is a cap on expenses, groups or members, and no official Settle Up page states a cap either way.

Splid's site calls the app free. Its US app listing shows in-app purchases named "Splid Plus" at $3.99 and "2 Groups" at $2.99, with no description of what either one changes. No official Splid page states a limit on expenses, groups or members.

## What else does EvenOut's free plan include besides no daily limit?

Everything except receipt scanning and the assistant is free in EvenOut. That includes five split methods (equally, exact amounts, percent, shares and by item), offline use, guests who are not on the app yet, spending charts, search, repeating expenses, reminders and the Splitwise import. Each expense stays in the currency you log it in, and balances are kept per currency. EvenOut has no data export and does not convert currencies.

## How to choose

- **You add expenses in bursts, after a trip or at month-end.** EvenOut takes the whole backlog in one sitting on the free plan, with no ads. Tricount, KittySplit and Splitkaro also state no expense cap.
- **Your group has more than 9 people.** A free Kitty is out. EvenOut holds up to 200 people per group, and the [group expense tracker comparison](https://www.evenoutapp.com/alternatives/best-group-expense-tracker-apps) has the people limits for the rest.
- **You want the limits spelled out.** EvenOut's guards are listed above with their numbers. Splitkaro gives no number for its group cap, and no official Settle Up or Splid page states a cap.
- **You also want no ads.** EvenOut has none on any plan. See the [apps without ads](https://www.evenoutapp.com/alternatives/expense-splitting-apps-without-ads), where the statements are sorted by source.

To move your history, the [steps to move a Splitwise group to EvenOut](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/move-splitwise-group-to-evenout) cover the export and import. Import is free, and one file becomes one new group.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does EvenOut sell a plan with a higher expense limit?

No. EvenOut Pro, at $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, covers receipt scanning and the assistant, and the free plan already has no daily expense limit beyond the abuse guards. Receipt scanning and the assistant have their own usage caps, which are separate from adding expenses.

### What do I see when I reach an EvenOut guard?

A message that begins "To keep EvenOut fast for everyone". Guards cover people per group, expenses and payments, comments, new friends, open repeats, items per expense and amount size. A person adding bills by hand at month-end or after a trip is unlikely to reach them.

### When does Splitwise's daily expense limit reset?

Splitwise's help article says only that you can add more expenses "as soon as the daily limit resets". If an expense has to be recorded now, its other two options are to subscribe to Pro or to ask a friend to add it as paid by you. Splitwise can change the number and the rules, so check the app.

### Is the Splitwise Card a way around the limit?

For some US users, yes. Splitwise says using the Card adds expenses without a Pro subscription. The Card is US-only and is rolling out to eligible Splitwise Pay users, who must be US residents aged 18 or over and pass identity checks.
