Updated: 2026-10-06

As of October 2026, Cash App's help center says an unverified account can send and receive up to $1,000 on a rolling 30-day period, with a $1,500 total account limit and a $1,000 balance limit. A verified account can send up to $40,000 on a rolling 30-day period. A Cash App guide of May 1, 2026 says an unverified account can send $250 per 7 days.

Key points:
- Cash App's help center: unverified accounts send and receive up to $1,000 on a rolling 30-day period. Verified accounts send up to $40,000.
- A Cash App guide of May 1, 2026 gives an unverified send limit of $250 per 7 days. Open Limits in your app to see which figure applies to you.
- A $1,400 trip share is $400 over a $1,000 send limit. Verify, or send $1,000 now and the rest after the first payment is more than 30 days old.
- Verifying asks for your legal name, date of birth and the last 4 digits of your SSN or ITIN, and sometimes more.
- A second account does not add room. Cash App's Terms reserve the right to combine limits across accounts.

## What are the Cash App limits?

As of October 2026, an unverified account can send and receive up to $1,000 on a rolling 30-day period, and a verified account can send up to $40,000 on a rolling 30-day period. Both figures come from Cash App's account limits page.

| Account | Send | Receive |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Unverified | Up to $1,000 on a rolling 30-day period | Up to $1,000 on a rolling 30-day period |
| Verified | Up to $40,000 on a rolling 30-day period | Set per account and shown in the Limits tab |

An unverified account has two more caps: a total account limit of $1,500 and a balance limit of $1,000. Once you reach the limits, Cash App prompts you to verify your identity in the app. The figures can change, so open the Limits section of your settings to see the numbers on your own account.

## Is there a daily or weekly limit?

Cash App's help center states its limits for a rolling 30-day period and lists no daily or weekly amount. One Cash App guide, dated May 1, 2026, does give a weekly figure: without verification, you can send up to $250 per 7 days and receive up to $1,000 per 30 days. The two pages disagree on the unverified send limit, so open Limits in your app settings to see which one applies to your account.

Venmo counts a week instead. As of October 2026, its unverified accounts have a weekly spending limit of $299.99, which [Venmo's weekly limit](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/venmo-weekly-limit) explains. If you are picking between the two for a group, [Cash App vs Venmo](https://www.evenoutapp.com/alternatives/cash-app-vs-venmo) sets their fees and limits side by side.

## What does a rolling 30-day period mean?

Cash App looks back 30 days from today instead of starting over on the first of the month. A payment counts against your limit until it is more than 30 days old.

Say an unverified account sends $600 on October 3 and $300 on October 20. On October 25, $900 sits inside the window, which leaves $100. By November 10 the October 3 payment is more than 30 days old, so only the $300 counts and $700 is available again. By November 25 both payments have aged out and the full $1,000 is back.

## What if your trip share is bigger than the limit?

Say your share of a trip is $1,400 and your unverified account shows the $1,000 limit. That leaves $400 that cannot go through in the same 30 days. There are three ways through:

1. **Verify the account.** A verified account can send up to $40,000 on a rolling 30-day period, so the whole $1,400 fits.
2. **Send in two parts.** Send $1,000 on October 3. The remaining $400 can go once that payment is more than 30 days old, in early November.
3. **Pay part another way.** A bank transfer or cash for the last $400 keeps Cash App out of it.

The limit also applies to whoever collects. Say an unverified organizer is owed $280 by each of 5 friends, $1,400 in all. The first 3 payments add up to $840 and fit under the $1,000 receive limit. The fourth would take the total to $1,120, over the $1,000 receive limit, which is where Cash App prompts the organizer to verify. A verified organizer has a receive limit set per account, shown in the Limits tab.

## What does verifying take?

Cash App asks for your legal name, your date of birth and the last 4 digits of your SSN or ITIN. In some cases it also asks for your full SSN or ITIN, your residential address, an unexpired government-issued photo ID, or income verification or source of funds.

To check your status, tap your profile icon, choose Personal Information and open the Identity verification section. It says Verified once you are done, and Cash App notes that the Verify option may not always be available.

A second account does not help. Cash App's Terms of Service, last updated September 11, 2026, say Cash App reserves the right to aggregate limits across all accounts associated with you.

## Do the limits change how you split costs?

They change how you pay, not what you owe. Cash App's Terms list no per-payment figure for peer-to-peer payments, so what stops a large payment is the period limit on your account. For cashing out to a bank, which has its own charges, see [Cash App instant transfer fee](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/cash-app-instant-transfer-fee).

EvenOut does not move money, so there is no sending limit inside it to hit. If you owe $1,400 and can send only $1,000 through Cash App, record the $1,000 under Settle up as a partial payment, and the balance still shows $400 owed. When the second payment goes through, record that too. ## Frequently asked questions

### What happens when I reach my Cash App limit?

Cash App prompts you to verify your identity in the app. Its Terms of Service add that it will ask for more identification if you want to send more than your limits, whether in one payment or several. After verifying, as of October 2026, you can send up to $40,000 on a rolling 30-day period.

### Does Cash App cap a single payment?

Cash App's Terms of Service give no per-payment figure for peer-to-peer payments. They say Cash App may impose transaction limits over any period of time and over the lifetime of an account, and may adjust them at any time. Plan around the 30-day figures and check the Limits section of your settings.

### Can a second account give me more room?

No. The Terms of Service say that if you have more than one Cash App account, Cash App reserves the right to aggregate limits, including balance, spending, transfer and withdrawal limits, across all accounts associated with you.

### What is the Cash App balance limit?

Your Cash App balance holds money you receive or add. As of October 2026, an account that has not verified its identity has a balance limit of $1,000, separate from the $1,000 send and receive limits and the $1,500 total account limit.
