Yes. As of October 2026, Duolingo says Super Family covers up to 6 Super accounts and can be shared with 5 family and friends, in any location. You cannot invite someone with an active paid Duolingo subscription or resell slots, and only the family manager manages the plan. Divide the bill by the people on it.

Key points:
- Super Family covers up to 6 Super accounts. You can share it with 5 family and friends, in any location.
- You cannot invite someone who has an active paid Duolingo subscription, and slots may not be resold.
- Only the family manager manages the plan, so agree who that is before anyone pays.
- Divide the bill by the people who will use a seat, the manager included, and add nothing on top.

## Who can join a Duolingo Super Family plan?

As of October 2026, Duolingo's pricing page says Super Family covers "up to 6 Super accounts". Its help page says you can share Super with 5 family and friends, in any location. The plan holds the manager plus five others, and none of them has to live at your address.

That sets it apart from plans tied to a home. Spotify Family, for example, is "for up to 6 family members residing at the same address". On Duolingo, a friend in another city counts as much as a cousin.

The pricing page also offers "1 week free". Wait for the first real charge on the manager's bill before you ask anyone for money.

## What are the limits on who you can invite?

Duolingo's family plan help page sets three rules:

- **No one with an active paid subscription.** You cannot invite someone who already has an active paid Duolingo subscription.
- **No reselling slots.** A slot is a seat on the plan, and Duolingo says slots may not be resold.
- **One manager.** Only the family manager manages the plan, so whoever sets it up holds the controls.

A friend who pays for Super on their own is the case to check first. Ask before you count them in.

## How much does each person pay?

Use the price your own Duolingo billing screen shows. The arithmetic is the same whatever it is: divide the bill by the number of people who will use a seat, the manager included.

To show it, say the manager's bill is $96 for the year. That is an example, not Duolingo's price.

| People on the plan | Each pays | Repaid to the manager |
|---|---|---|
| 6 | $16.00 | $80.00 |
| 5 | $19.20 | $76.80 |
| 4 | $24.00 | $72.00 |
| 3 | $32.00 | $64.00 |
| 2 | $48.00 | $48.00 |

Divide by the people who really use the plan, not by 6. Say four people use it. If the manager divides $96 by 6, each of the other three sends $16.00 and the manager is left paying $48.00. Divided by 4, their own share would be $24.00, so dividing by 6 costs them an extra $24.00.

## How do you split the bill without it getting awkward?

Keep the money about the bill and nothing else, because Duolingo bars reselling slots. The manager makes nothing on the split.

1. **Pick the manager first.** Only the manager manages the plan, and the manager is who gets repaid.
2. **Count the real users.** Include the manager in the count. If you are unsure about a friend, leave them out until they say yes.
3. **Wait for the first charge.** Then divide that amount by the number of people.
4. **Record it once.** In EvenOut, add a group, then add the bill as an expense with "Paid by" set to the manager, "Split equally", and the "Subscriptions" category. Open "Photo, repeat, pending or note" and set Repeat to match how your bill arrives: Weekly, Monthly or Yearly.
5. **Settle up as people repay.** Each repayment is recorded in "Settle up", and the group shows who still owes.

If someone drops out, stop the repeating expense and add a new one with the people who remain. The rule of dividing by who is actually on the plan stays the same.

## What should the invite say?

Keep the message short and put the arithmetic in it, so nobody has to ask. Using the example bill from above:

> I'm setting up Duolingo Super Family. The bill is $96 for the year and the plan holds 6 people. If four of us use it, that is $24 each. I'll ask for it once the first charge goes through. Tell me if you're in.

Count a person once they reply "in", and wait on anyone who says "maybe".

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I charge a little extra for managing the plan?

Keep it at cost. Duolingo's help page says slots may not be resold, so ask each person for their share of the bill and nothing more. Round to the cent, not up to the next dollar.

### What if a friend who already pays for Super wants to join?

Duolingo says you cannot invite someone with an active paid subscription. Do not ask that friend for a share until they are actually on your plan, and tell them about the rule before you promise a seat.

### Can I add a friend who is not on EvenOut to the split?

Yes. In a group, add them as a guest by name, track their share now and invite them later. Their share is recorded the same way as anyone else's.

### Does EvenOut collect each person's share?

No. EvenOut records who paid and who owes. Settle up records a repayment, including a partial one, but it does not move money, so you pay each other the way you already do.
