Divide the plan price by the people in your household who pay. As of October 2026, Standard at $19.99 a month is $5.00 each for four people, and Premium at $26.99 is $6.75 each. People outside your household can join through an Extra Member slot, which works out to $13.99 to $15.66 each when every slot is filled and the total is split equally.

Key points:
- US plans as of October 2026: Standard with ads $8.99, Standard $19.99 and Premium $26.99 a month. Basic is discontinued.
- Four people in one household pay $2.25 on Standard with ads, $5.00 on Standard and $6.75 on Premium.
- The limit that matters is devices streaming at once: 2 on both Standard plans and 4 on Premium.
- Extra Member slots cost $7.99 a month with ads or $9.99 without. Standard has 1 slot and Premium up to 2.

## How much does Netflix cost per person in one household?

Four people in one household pay between $2.25 and $6.75 each, depending on the plan. As of October 2026, Netflix lists three plans in the US: Standard with ads at $8.99 a month, Standard at $19.99 and Premium at $26.99. The Basic plan is discontinued. For splitting, the difference between them is how many devices can stream at once.

| Plan | Price a month | Devices at once | Each of 4 pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard with ads | $8.99 | 2 | $2.25 |
| Standard | $19.99 | 2 | $5.00 |
| Premium | $26.99 | 4 | $6.75 |

The figures are rounded, because $19.99 split four ways is $4.9975. EvenOut shares out the leftover cents, so three people pay $5.00 and one pays $4.99, and the total is exactly $19.99. The amounts are arithmetic on the plan price, not prices Netflix charges per person.

## How many people can share one plan?

Netflix defines a household as the devices at the main place where you watch, and its limit is devices watching at the same moment, not the number of people. Those are called [concurrent streams](https://www.evenoutapp.com/glossary/concurrent-streams).

That makes the number you divide by different from the number of streams. Four people on Standard share two streams, so a third person pressing play while two others are watching goes over the 2-device limit. Premium allows four, and it costs $7.00 a month more than Standard, which is $1.75 each across four people. If three or four of you often watch together, that $1.75 is the price of not taking turns.

## What if some of the people live outside your household?

Netflix's way to add them is an Extra Member slot, sold separately. Standard has 1 slot and Premium up to 2, at $7.99 a month with ads or $9.99 without. Each Extra Member gets their own account, password and one profile, watches on one device at a time and must be in the owner's country. Slots cannot be added to ad-supported plans, third-party-billed accounts or some packages. The full rules are in [Netflix extra member cost and household rules](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/netflix-extra-member-and-household-rules).

When every slot is filled with one person each, and the total is split equally, the cost per person looks like this. The rows marked "with ads" use the $7.99 slot.

| Setup | Total a month | People | Each pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard plus 1 Extra Member, no ads | $29.98 | 2 | $14.99 |
| Standard plus 1 Extra Member, with ads | $27.98 | 2 | $13.99 |
| Premium plus 2 Extra Members, no ads | $46.97 | 3 | $15.66 |
| Premium plus 2 Extra Members, with ads | $42.97 | 3 | $14.32 |

An equal split is one choice, not the only one. The slot costs $9.99, so the Extra Member could instead pay just that fee while the people in the household split the $19.99 plan between them. Agree on one before the first month. In EvenOut the equal version uses "Split equally" and the fee version uses "Exact amounts".

## How do you set it up in EvenOut?

Say you hold the Standard plan and three other people in your home split it. The setup takes about a minute.

1. **Make a group.** Create one with the type "Household" and add the people who pay. Someone outside your household who is not on EvenOut can be added with "Add a guest".
2. **Add the bill.** Tap "Add expense", type 19.99 and write Netflix under "What was this for?". Pick the Subscriptions category.
3. **Set the payer and the split.** Leave "Paid by you" and "Split equally". Tap anyone who does not use Netflix to leave them out.
4. **Repeat it monthly.** Open "Photo, repeat, pending or note", tap "Repeat" and choose "Monthly". The expense you save is the first, and EvenOut adds each later one automatically with the same payer and split. Setting a repeat up needs a connection.
5. **Record payments.** When someone pays you, they tap "Settle up" and "Record payment" for the amount. Partial payments work.

## What should you do next?

Choose the plan by how many people watch at once, then divide. For other services, the [shared plan cost per person calculator](https://www.evenoutapp.com/tools/shared-plan-cost-per-person-calculator) handles any price and head count, and [shared subscription plans compared](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/shared-subscription-plans-compared) sets Netflix beside the rest. Keeping all of them in one place is easier with [a list of shared subscriptions and renewals](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/track-shared-subscriptions), so a price change is noticed the month it happens.

## Frequently asked questions

### What do I do when Netflix raises the price?

A monthly repeat keeps adding the amount you saved. Open Repeating expenses, tap Stop repeating (expenses already added stay), then add a new monthly expense at the new price with the same people.

### Does everyone have to be on EvenOut to split Netflix?

No. In a group you can use Add a guest for someone who is not on EvenOut yet, track their share now and invite them to claim it later. Guests cannot receive reminder emails, so share a message instead.

### Who pays Netflix, and how do the others pay back?

The account owner pays Netflix and is recorded as the payer on the expense. Each person then pays the owner by whatever method you already use and records it with Settle up. EvenOut moves no money.

### Can I split the bill unevenly if one person watches much less?

Yes. Choose Exact amounts, Percent or Shares for that expense instead of Split equally. Splits are chosen per expense, so one month can differ from the next. With Exact amounts, the amounts must add up to the total before you can save.
