Type an amount and the calculator shows what each Venmo fee costs on it. As of October 2026, a standard transfer is free, Instant Transfer is 1.75% (at least $0.25, at most $25), sending with a credit card is 3.00%, and a received payment marked goods and services is 2.99%. On $200 that is $0, $3.50, $6.00 and $5.98.

Key points:
- As of October 2026, a standard Venmo transfer is free and Instant Transfer is 1.75%, with a $0.25 minimum fee and a $25 maximum fee.
- Paying a friend back from your Venmo balance, debit card or bank costs neither of you a fee.
- Sending with a credit card carries a 3.00% fee. A payment marked goods and services costs the receiver 2.99%.
- On $200 the fees are $3.50 for Instant Transfer, $6.00 by credit card and $5.98 as goods and services.
- Venmo can change these rates, so check its fees page before you rely on a result.

## When to use the calculator

Use it before you move money out of Venmo or send a payment, to see which fees apply on the amount you have. It covers a personal account, and a business profile has its own fees. The rates are the ones Venmo lists as of October 2026, and Venmo can change them, so read its fees page before you rely on a result.

## What does each fee cost on $200?

The calculator opens with $200. A standard transfer is free, Instant Transfer is the one transfer speed that costs money, and the other fees depend on how a payment is funded or labeled.

| What you do | Venmo's fee | On $200 |
|---|---|---|
| Standard transfer out of Venmo | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| Instant Transfer | 1.75%, at least $0.25, at most $25 | $3.50 |
| Send from balance, debit card or bank | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| Send with a credit card | 3.00% | $6.00 |
| Receive a personal payment from a Venmo user | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| Receive a payment the sender marked goods and services | 2.99% | $5.98 |

Venmo takes the Instant Transfer fee out of the amount you transfer, so an Instant Transfer of $200 costs $3.50 (200 × 1.75%) and you keep $196.50. A $200 goods and services payment costs the receiver $5.98 (200 × 2.99%), which leaves $194.02.

## How do the minimum and maximum change the Instant Transfer rate?

The 1.75% is not a flat rate. The fee never drops below $0.25 or rises above $25, so small and large transfers pay a different share of the amount. $0.25 ÷ 1.75% is about $14.29, so below that amount the fee is the $0.25 minimum. $25 ÷ 1.75% is $1,428.57, so above that amount the fee stays at $25.

On the four amounts below, the fee falls from 2.5% of the amount on $10 to 1.25% on $2,000.

| Amount | Fee | You keep | Fee as a share of the amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| $10 | $0.25 | $9.75 | 2.5% |
| $200 | $3.50 | $196.50 | 1.75% |
| $1,500 | $25.00 | $1,475.00 | 1.67% |
| $2,000 | $25.00 | $1,975.00 | 1.25% |

These amounts show how the fee works, not what Venmo lets you move at once. Transfer limits are separate, and [how much you can send on Venmo each week](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/venmo-weekly-limit) explains them.

## What should you tell a friend who is paying you back?

Ask them to send the money from their Venmo balance, a debit card or their bank. That costs neither of you a fee. Two choices change that: a credit card carries a 3.00% fee for the sender, and a payment marked goods and services costs you 2.99% when it arrives. On an $85 dinner share that is $2.55 for the card and $2.54 for goods and services.

For a friend repaying a dinner, a personal payment is the free option. When you are the one asking for the money, [how to request money on Venmo](https://www.evenoutapp.com/guides/how-to-request-money-on-venmo) covers the steps for one person or several.

## Mistakes that cost money

- **Using Instant Transfer when you can wait.** On $1,000 the fee is $17.50, and a standard transfer is $0.00.
- **Marking a personal payment as goods and services.** The receiver pays 2.99% on a payment that would have been free.
- **Reading the result as final.** The calculator rounds each fee to the nearest cent, and Venmo can change its rates. Check Venmo's fees page for the current figure.

When the payment is a shared cost, EvenOut keeps a running balance with each friend and group and records the payment when you settle up. It does not move money, so it has no transfer fees of its own, and you still pay through Venmo or any other way. ## Frequently asked questions

### How long does a standard transfer take compared with Instant Transfer?

As of October 2026, Venmo lists a standard transfer as typically taking 1 to 3 business days to a linked bank and about 48 hours to an eligible debit card. Instant Transfer is listed as typically available in minutes. The fee is the price of that speed, so choose standard when the money is not needed today.

### Does the calculator add the 3.00% credit card fee to the payment?

No. It shows the fee on its own, which is 3.00% of the amount, so on $200 it shows $6.00. It does not say whether that comes on top of the payment or out of it. Venmo's fees page lists the 3.00% and is the place to check the current rate.

### What are the fees for a Venmo business profile?

As of October 2026, Venmo lists 1.9% + $0.10 for each payment a business profile receives, and 2.29% + $0.09 when the payment is made with Tap to Pay. This calculator covers personal accounts only, so it does not show those fees.

### Is there a limit on how much I can send?

Yes, and it is separate from fees. As of October 2026, Venmo lists a weekly spending limit of $299.99 for a personal account that has not been identity verified, and up to $60,000 a week for a verified one, though payments can still be declined. Venmo can change its limits.
