Cash App instant transfer fee in 2027: what the terms say
Quick answer
As of October 2026, Cash App's Terms put the instant transfer fee at 0.5% to 2.5%, with a $0.25 to $1 minimum and a $75 maximum. Its send page says 0.5% to 1.75% with a $0.25 minimum. The app shows the exact fee before you confirm, and a standard transfer is free and usually takes 1 to 3 business days.
Key points
- Cash App's own pages disagree: the Terms say 0.5% to 2.5% ($0.25 to $1 minimum, $75 maximum), and its send page says 0.5% to 1.75% with a $0.25 minimum.
- On $500, the fee is $2.50 to $12.50 under the Terms' range and $2.50 to $8.75 under the send page's range.
- Standard cash-out is free and usually takes 1 to 3 business days. Sending is free from Cash balance, bank or debit card, and receiving is free.
- Budget with the wider range, and treat the fee shown in the app before you confirm as the real one.

What is the Cash App instant transfer fee?
As of October 2026, Cash App’s own pages give two different ranges, and the fee on your screen is the number that counts. Cash App’s Terms and help article say 0.5% to 2.5%, with a $0.25 to $1 minimum and a $75 maximum. Its send page and a May 2026 learn article say 0.5% to 1.75%, with a $0.25 minimum.
The Terms were last updated on September 11, 2026, and the learn article is dated May 1, 2026. This page does not pick one range as the answer. Budget with the wider one, the Terms, and let the confirm screen settle the exact amount.
How much is the fee on $100, $200, $300, $500 and $1,000?
At the lowest rate, 0.5%, the two ranges agree. They differ at the top: a $1,000 instant transfer costs up to $25.00 under the Terms’ range and up to $17.50 under the send page’s range.
| Amount | Terms: 0.5% to 2.5% | Send page: 0.5% to 1.75% |
|---|---|---|
| $100 | $0.50 to $2.50 | $0.50 to $1.75 |
| $200 | $1.00 to $5.00 | $1.00 to $3.50 |
| $300 | $1.50 to $7.50 | $1.50 to $5.25 |
| $500 | $2.50 to $12.50 | $2.50 to $8.75 |
| $1,000 | $5.00 to $25.00 | $5.00 to $17.50 |
How is the fee worked out?
The fee is the amount times the rate, subject to the minimum. To find your own figure, multiply by 0.005 for the low end and by 0.025 (Terms) or 0.0175 (send page) for the high end. For $240, that is $1.20 at 0.5%, $4.20 at 1.75% and $6.00 at 2.5%.
The minimum matters on small amounts. On $30, 0.5% is $0.15, which is under the $0.25 floor, so the minimum sets the fee. The Terms list the minimum as $0.25 to $1, so on a small transfer the dollar minimum can decide the fee rather than the percentage.
What does Cash App charge for other transfers?
- Standard cash-out: free, usually 1 to 3 business days.
- Sending: free from your Cash balance, a bank or a debit card. Sending from a linked credit card costs 3%, which is $3.00 on $100.
- Receiving: free.
So the instant fee is the only one that applies when you move money out to your bank and want it fast. Everything else on this list costs nothing, except funding a payment with a credit card.
When does the fee matter if you collect from a group?
It matters when you gather money from friends and want it in your bank the same day. Say four friends pay you back $280 in all for a weekend. Cashing that out instantly costs $1.40 to $7.00 under the Terms’ range and $1.40 to $4.90 under the send page’s range. A standard cash-out of the same $280 costs $0 and usually takes 1 to 3 business days.
Two habits keep the cost down:
- Cash out once instead of several times. The percentage is the same either way, but a minimum fee applies to each instant transfer, so five small transfers can cost more than one larger one.
- Ask friends to pay from balance, bank or debit card. A friend who sends $70 from a linked credit card pays $2.10 in fees (3% of $70).
EvenOut can help with the tracking side. It records who has paid you, partial payments included, without moving any money, so it adds no transfer fee of its own and you can see the total you are owed before you cash out.
What to do next
Pick standard cash-out when you can wait 1 to 3 business days, and read the confirm screen when you cannot. To check what you can send and receive before a large transfer, Cash App limits covers the account caps, and Venmo fees has the other app’s numbers.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the fee on my screen not match the table?
The table applies each published range to a round amount, and a range gives the lowest and highest the fee can be. Cash App's Terms say the specific fee is disclosed at the time of the transaction, and the app shows the exact fee before you confirm. That figure is what your transfer costs.
How large can the instant transfer fee get?
The Terms cap it at $75. At the top rate of 2.5%, the cap is reached at $3,000, since 2.5% of $3,000 is $75. Transfers above that cost no more than $75 under the Terms.
How does Venmo's instant transfer fee compare?
Venmo's fees page lists $0.00 or 1.75%, with a $0.25 minimum and a $25 maximum, where $0.00 is the standard option. On $1,000 that is $17.50, which equals the top of Cash App's send page range and is below the $25.00 top of the Terms' range.
Will these fees stay the same?
Not necessarily. Cash App's Terms were last updated on September 11, 2026, and both companies can change fees. The figures here are as of October 2026, so read the confirm screen before you transfer.
