Is Tricount free? What is included and what has a fee in 2027
Quick answer
Yes. As of October 2026 the Tricount app is free to use, and Premium was discontinued. Its optional extras carry fees: an eSIM, ATM withdrawals on the Free Credit Card (€2.99 each plus the ATM provider's charges), and 2.5% on credit card request-link payments. EvenOut's free plan has no daily expense limit and no ads, and its recurring expenses add themselves.
Key points
- EvenOut's free plan has no daily expense limit, no ads and recurring expenses that add themselves. Tricount's own page says each bill is added manually, as of October 2026.
- EvenOut has five split methods, and Pro receipt scanning splits line items, tax and tip. Its only paid features are receipt scanning and the assistant, at $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year.
- The Tricount app is free to use as of October 2026, and its home page says there is no daily expense cap. Premium was discontinued with the new app.

Is Tricount free to use?
Yes. As of October 2026 the Tricount app is free to use. Its home page says it has “No ads or daily expense cap”, its help center answers “Is tricount free?” with “Yes, the tricount app is free to use”, and its US store listing shows a price of 0 USD with “No subscription, no hidden fees”.
The help center follows that answer with “Just sign up for your Free Credit Card following the instructions provided here.” The extras section below covers what the card costs.
What happened to Tricount Premium?
Tricount says Premium “was discontinued with the new app”. Former Premium members get a free 6-month bunq Pro subscription worth €59.94. That figure is the value of the bunq subscription, not the old Premium price.
The help article lists CSV and PDF export and Personal mode among the features that went with Premium, plus Statistics and custom split saving, which it describes as planned for later.
How do you export a tricount now?
The “Export tricount in CSV and PDF” option from Premium is no longer available. Tricount’s FAQ tells you to email support@bunq.com to get an export. If keeping a record matters to you, ask for it before you stop using a tricount, and keep a copy of the result.
Which extras carry a fee?
Three extras carry a charge.
- eSIM. Tricount’s eSIM page labels it an “Optional paid service”.
- Free Credit Card. The prepaid card comes “without any monthly costs or hidden fees”, but each ATM withdrawal costs “€2.99 plus any additional charges imposed by the ATM provider”. Say you withdraw cash 3 times on a trip: 3 × €2.99 = €8.97, before any ATM provider charge.
- Request links. Payments by Bancontact, iDEAL and Sofort are “free of charge”. If the payer uses a credit card, there is “a fee of 2.5%” deducted from the recipient. On an €80 payment that is €2.00, so the recipient gets €78.00. Bank request links are available only in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium for now.
What does the free app include?
Tricount’s official pages list these as part of the app:
- Splits: equally, by amount or by custom shares, with 1 cent accuracy. Its FAQ gives €100 across 3 people as €33.34 and €33.33, so one person pays €33.34 and the other two pay €33.33, which adds back to €100.00.
- Repayments: the app proposes repayments that aim to limit the number of transactions.
- Transaction types: expense, income and transfer.
- Photos: attached to expenses, with a Photos tab.
- Offline use: “Add expenses without a signal”, with syncing when you are back online.
- Sharing: people join a tricount by tapping a link.
- Currencies: each tricount uses one currency, and expenses entered in another are converted at the market rate.
- Recurring bills: Tricount’s own comparison page says “Add each bill manually”.
Is there a limit on expenses?
Tricount says there is “No ads or daily expense cap”. The terms say it is “advisable” to keep an account to about 100 transactions. That is advice in the terms, not a limit on the app, so do not read it as a cap.
Does Tricount have ads?
Tricount’s website says there are no ads. The terms and one store listing read less clearly: the listing carries a “Contains ads” label, and the terms say both “no general or personalized advertising” from version 8 and “Advertising may therefore appear”. If ads matter to you, check the current listing before you rely on the website’s wording.
How does EvenOut compare on cost?
Tricount’s home page says it has no daily expense cap, and EvenOut has none either. EvenOut has five split methods, recurring expenses that post themselves and no ads.
| What you get | EvenOut | Tricount, as of October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Daily expense limit | None on the free plan | None, per its home page |
| Ads | None | Website says none; one store listing carries a “Contains ads” label |
| Split methods | Equally, exact amounts, percent, shares or by item, chosen per expense | Equally, by amount or by custom shares, per its help center and store listing |
| Recurring bills | Weekly, monthly or yearly, added automatically | “Add each bill manually” |
| Receipts | Pro scans a receipt and splits line items, tax and tip | Photos attach to expenses |
| Paid features | Receipt scanning and the assistant, $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year | No paid plan, Premium was discontinued |
EvenOut records payments and does not move money, so it has no equivalent of the card, ATM or request-link fees. It keeps a separate balance for each currency instead of converting, and it has no data export, so it does not cover those two needs. What should you do next?
For a typical group splitting rent, a trip or shared bills, EvenOut’s free plan has no daily expense limit, no ads, five split methods and recurring expenses that add themselves, and only receipt scanning and the assistant are paid. If you need request links, a card or currency conversion, those are outside what EvenOut does.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Tricount Free Credit Card sign-up ask for?
Tricount's help center lists personal details, a phone confirmation code, a Security Code, a Tax Identification Number and identity verification. It adds that newly registered users also get a bunq account automatically upon signup. For existing users, it says that without a Free Credit Card from the Card tab, you have to input your expenses manually.
How many people can join one tricount?
Up to 50 people per tricount, including you. The US store listing says there is no limit on the number of tricounts or expenses.
What happens to an unused Tricount account?
The terms say an account that is in no profile and unused for 24 months is made unavailable, then removed within the next 12 months.
Does EvenOut have any limits on the free plan?
The free plan puts no limit on how many groups, friends or expenses you have. EvenOut does have abuse guards that a normal account does not meet: up to 200 people per group, 30 new expenses or payments a minute and 1,000 a day, and 200 items per expense.
