What do Settle Up’s ratings and download numbers show?
As of October 2026, one listing shows Settle Up at 4.73 from 50,399 ratings, with 1M+ downloads and an update on September 29, 2026. The second listing shows 4.8 from 1.8K ratings.
These are the listings’ own figures. They count how many people rated the app and how highly, and they do not say how any one feature behaves. For that, use the lists below.
What does the free version include?
Settle Up’s feature lists name offline use, currencies, several payers and read-only access as part of the free app. The table sets what the free list names against what the web Premium page names.
| Area | Named in the free list | Named on the Premium page |
|---|---|---|
| Currencies | All currencies with real-time exchange rates | “Edit exchange rates in bulk” |
| Statistics | Member statistics and transaction filters | “Charts” |
| Receipts | Not named | “Add receipt photos” |
| Repeats | Not named | “Recurring transactions” and “Future transactions” |
| Export | CSV export by email | “Export to Excel” |
| Ads | Shown | “Remove all ads” |
Beyond the table, the free list says the app “works offline” with data “backed up and synchronized”, and it names several payers on one expense and default member weights. You invite people by link or QR code, and friends can view a group in a browser “without downloading anything”.
What do the ads and the privacy listing say?
Settle Up’s free version has ads. One listing carries the label “Contains ads” and the other “Contains Advertising”, and Premium removes them: the Premium page lists “Remove all ads” and the second listing says “Ad-free”.
The privacy section of the second listing lists “Third-Party Advertising” data, specifically User ID and Device ID, and says identifiers “may be used to track you”. The developer reports that section, so it is Settle Up’s own description of the data used for third-party advertising.
What does Premium add?
Premium comes in two kinds. Individual is a subscription that covers you in every group. Group is a one-time purchase that covers every member of one group, and it is not a subscription. The web Premium page lists ten items, which are ad removal and nine others, and the table above sets seven of them against the free list.
Receipts are photos kept in the group: the second listing says “Snap and store bills directly in the group”, and its release 3.18.0 added “PDF receipts preview”.
Prices differ between the web page and the second listing, and each plan has its own price. The guide to whether Settle Up is free lists every price with its channel, so this page quotes none.
Who makes Settle Up?
Settle Up’s terms name Step Up Labs Inc., of Casper, WY, United States, as the owner and add that the team is based in the Czech Republic. The company’s own site gives its mission as “Improving relationships in groups through high-quality mobile apps” and lists Settle Up as its only product. Support is by email.
Another app called Settle Up, from a developer named Crybaby, is a different product. Check the developer name on the listing before you install, the same way you would for any lookalike.
How does EvenOut compare?
EvenOut’s free plan has no ads, and it includes four things that Settle Up’s web Premium page lists:
- Charts. Free for a group or a friend, by category and over time.
- Repeating expenses. “Repeat” weekly, monthly or yearly is free.
- Reminders. “Remind {name}” by shared message or email is free.
- A photo on an expense. Free.
EvenOut Pro is receipt scanning and the assistant, and everything else is free. EvenOut keeps each expense in its own currency with separate balances per currency, and it does not convert between them.
What would a household notice first?
Say four housemates want rent as a monthly repeat, a photo of the electric bill on its expense, and a nudge for whoever is late. On Settle Up’s web Premium page those are three of the ten items: “Recurring transactions”, “Add receipt photos” and “Remind friends to pay”. In EvenOut each is free. “Repeat” monthly adds the rent for you, the expense page holds one photo as a “Receipt photo”, and “Remind {name}” sends a shared message or an email.
What should you check before you choose?
Work through three things in order. Confirm the developer name on the listing. Look at which Premium items you would actually use, because charts, repeats and reminders are on Settle Up’s Premium page and free in EvenOut. Then compare prices by channel.
The Settle Up alternatives page and the three-way comparison with Splitwise set the apps side by side, and how to use Settle Up walks through its features. EvenOut’s own head-to-head is at EvenOut vs Settle Up.
Frequently asked questions
How many people use Settle Up?
One listing says "Join over 2.5 million users", which is Settle Up's own claim. The other listing shows 1M+ downloads, a count the listing reports. The two figures count different things, so do not add them together or treat either as a verified user total.
Does the privacy listing prove Settle Up tracks you?
No. The developer fills in that section, and it is the developer's own statement of the data used for third-party advertising, namely User ID and Device ID. The wording "may be used to track you" describes what that data could be used for.
Who runs the company behind Settle Up?
As of October 2026, the company site lists David Vávra as Founder and CEO and Tomáš Bezouška as Partner and CTO. Settle Up's terms name Step Up Labs Inc. of Casper, WY, United States as the owner and add "We are all based in the Czech Republic, Europe."
