4 min read By The EvenOut team

Quick answer

Yes. Settle Up has a free version, and it has ads; Premium removes them. Premium is optional and has two products, Individual and Group, priced differently on the web and in the US store listing as of October 2026. EvenOut's free plan has no ads and includes charts, repeating expenses and reminders.

Key points

  • EvenOut's free plan has no ads, and its charts, repeating expenses and reminders are free. Settle Up's free version has ads, and Premium removes them.
  • EvenOut Pro is two things, receipt scanning and the assistant, so every other EvenOut feature is free.
  • Settle Up Individual Premium is a subscription: $3.49 a month or $18.99 a year on the web, $3.99 and $19.99 in the US store listing.
  • Settle Up Group Premium is a one-time purchase for one group, from $5.49 for a week to $134.99 for a lifetime on the web.
  • On every plan both channels list, the US store listing costs more than the web page, by $0.50 to $15.00.

Is Settle Up free to use?

Yes, with ads. As of October 2026 Settle Up has a free version, and it carries advertising: one store listing shows “Contains ads” and the other “Contains Advertising”. Premium removes the ads. The US store listing’s privacy section, which the developer fills in, lists “Third-Party Advertising” data (User ID and Device ID) and says identifiers “may be used to track you”.

All prices below are in dollars and are as of October 2026, as shown to a US-English browser and in the US store listing.

What does Settle Up Premium include?

Premium comes in two kinds. Individual is “For you in every group” and you can “Cancel anytime”. Group is “For every member in one group” and is “Transferable if the group is closed”.

The web Premium page lists 10 items: remove all ads, add receipt photos, expense categories, 7 extra group colors, recurring transactions, future transactions, remind friends to pay, edit exchange rates in bulk, export to Excel and charts. That is the ads plus 9 other items. The store listing words it a little differently: ad-free, receipt photos, recurring and future expenses, custom categories, Excel export and statistics.

What does Individual Premium cost?

On the web, Individual Premium is $3.49 a month or $18.99 billed yearly. The US store listing shows $3.99 a month and $19.99 a year. Both are Settle Up’s own pages, so name the channel when you quote a price. The store listing is higher by $0.50 a month and $1.00 a year.

Plan Web (settleup.app) US store listing
Monthly $3.49 a month $3.99 a month
Yearly $18.99 billed yearly, shown as $1.58 a month (“SAVE 55%”) $19.99 a year, about $1.67 a month

What does Group Premium cost?

Group Premium is one payment for one group. Settle Up says “it’s not a subscription”, so it does not renew. On every length both channels list, the store listing costs more than the web page, by $0.50 to $15.00.

Length Web (settleup.app) US store listing
1 week $5.49 $5.99
2 weeks not listed $9.99
1 month $13.99 $14.99
2 months $27.99 $29.99
1 year $34.99 $39.99
Lifetime $134.99 $149.99

A second store listing shows only a range for its in-app items, $0.99 to $149.99 per item, with no per-plan prices.

How do you split the cost of Group Premium?

Add it as a group expense. Settle Up’s tips page says you “can also lower the cost by adding it as a group expense”, and the page is undated.

Say six friends take a one-week trip and buy the 1 week plan on the web for $5.49. Split six ways it is $0.92 for three people and $0.91 for the other three. Say five flatmates want it for a year at $34.99. Four pay $7.00 and one pays $6.99. If those five each bought Individual yearly on the web instead, they would pay 5 × $18.99 = $94.95 in total. The two products cover different things, though. Individual covers you in every group, and Group covers every member of one group.

How does EvenOut compare?

EvenOut’s free plan has no ads and includes four things that Settle Up’s web Premium page lists: charts, repeating expenses, reminders and a photo on an expense. The table sets them side by side, as of October 2026.

What EvenOut Settle Up
Ads None on the free plan The free version contains ads
Charts Free, per group or friend “Charts” is on the web Premium list
Repeating expenses Free: Weekly, Monthly or Yearly “Recurring transactions” and “Future transactions” are on the web Premium list
Reminders Free: “Remind {name}” by shared message or email “Remind friends to pay” is on the web Premium list
Photo on an expense Free “Add receipt photos” is on the web Premium list
What the paid plan adds Receipt scanning and the assistant Ad removal and 9 other items

EvenOut Pro is a different product from Settle Up Premium. It covers receipt scanning and the assistant, at $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, and every other EvenOut feature is free.

What to do next

Pick the channel before you pick the plan, because the same plan costs a different amount in each. If the ads are what you want gone, EvenOut’s free plan has none, and expense splitting apps without ads compares the other options. Frequently asked questions

Can you earn Settle Up Premium without paying?

Settle Up's tips page says that when 5 invited friends join as new users, you can "receive 1 Premium feature forever". The page is undated, so check the app for the offer that applies today.

Does Settle Up Premium include export?

"Export to Excel" is on the Premium list. One store listing also lists "export data by email in CSV format" among its non-Premium items, so the two formats are treated differently.

The US store listing says friends can view a group in a browser "without downloading anything", and you invite people by link or QR code. One store listing also lists read-only access among its non-Premium items.
