5 min read By The EvenOut team

Quick answer

As of October 2026, Cash App charges nothing to send from a Cash balance, bank or debit card, 3% to send from a linked credit card, and nothing to receive. A standard cash-out is free and usually takes 1 to 3 business days. The business fee is 2.6% plus $0.15 per payment from a customer's Cash App account. Fees can change.

Key points

  • Sending from a Cash balance, bank or debit card is free, and a linked credit card adds 3%. Receiving is free. All figures are US dollars as of October 2026.
  • Standard cash-out is free and usually takes 1 to 3 business days. The instant transfer fee is shown before you confirm, and Cash App's pages give two ranges for it.
  • The business fee is 2.6% + $0.15 per payment from a customer's Cash App account, or 3% with Tap to Pay. Below $37.50 the flat $0.15 makes the first fee larger than 3%.
  • EvenOut records settle-ups and does not move money, so it adds no transfer fee, card fee or sending limit of its own.

What does Cash App charge, at a glance?

Sending and receiving between people are free unless a linked credit card pays, and business payments carry a percentage. The table lists each fee as of October 2026, in US dollars.

What you do Fee Notes
Send from a Cash balance, bank or debit card $0.00 Free whichever of the three you use
Send from a linked credit card 3% $3.00 on $100
Receive money $0.00 Receiving is free
Standard cash-out $0.00 Usually 1 to 3 business days
Instant transfer Shown before you confirm Two ranges appear on Cash App’s pages
Start a pool, or fund one from a Cash balance $0.00 Pooled money stays separate from your Cash balance
Contribute to a pool by credit card 3% $3.00 on $100
Pay a payment link No fee unless a credit card funds it The payer needs no Cash App account
Business payment from a customer’s Cash App account 2.6% + $0.15 Per payment
Business payment with Tap to Pay 3% Per payment

Cash App sets its own fees and can change them. It also says only residents of the United States can create Cash App accounts, and the amounts here come from its US pages.

Is it free to send money on Cash App?

Yes, when the money comes from a Cash balance, a bank account or a debit card. Cash App charges 3% only when you send from a linked credit card. On $20 the fee is $0.60, and on $400 it is $12.00.

When you pay your share of a bill, a credit card is the only funding choice in the table above that adds a fee. If you are collecting, ask friends to send from a balance, bank or debit card.

Does it cost anything to receive money?

No. Receiving money on Cash App is free. How much you can receive depends on your account, and Cash App limits lists the figures for unverified and verified accounts.

How much does it cost to cash out or withdraw?

A standard cash-out costs $0.00 and usually takes 1 to 3 business days. The instant transfer costs a percentage that Cash App shows before you confirm. Its Terms and its send page give different ranges, so Cash App instant transfer fee holds both, with a table by amount. If the money is not needed today, the standard option costs nothing.

What are Cash App’s business fees?

A business account’s fee is 2.6% + $0.15 per payment from a customer’s Cash App account, and 3% for a payment taken with Tap to Pay. The flat $0.15 matters most on small payments.

Payment 2.6% + $0.15 3% with Tap to Pay
$20 $0.67 $0.60
$100 $2.75 $3.00
$400 $10.55 $12.00

The two fees cross at $37.50, where both come to $1.125. Below that amount the 2.6% + $0.15 fee is the larger one, and above it the smaller. These fees are for business accounts. Receiving on a personal account is free.

A pool costs nothing to start, and nothing to fund from a Cash balance. A credit card contribution carries a 3% fee. Say five people fund a $400 trip pool at $80 each, and two of them pay by credit card. The fee is $2.40 on each of those two contributions, $4.80 in all, and the other three add nothing. Cash App Pools covers the rules for organizers and contributors.

For a payment link, Cash App says there is no fee unless a credit card funds the payment, and the person paying needs no Cash App account. Cash App payment links has the steps and the conditions on the payer.

How do you keep fees out of a shared bill?

Pick the free path at each step.

  1. Send from a Cash balance, bank account or debit card. Those cost $0.00, and a credit card adds 3%.
  2. Choose standard cash-out when the money can wait 1 to 3 business days.
  3. Ask pool contributors to pay from a Cash balance, which carries no fee.
  4. Keep the running total in one place. EvenOut records who paid and who owes, and “Settle up” records a payment, partial ones included. It does not move money, so it has no transfer fees, card-funding fees or sending limits of its own. The payment itself still goes through Cash App or whatever you use.

For how Cash App’s fees and limits compare with another payment app, see Cash App vs Venmo, and Venmo fees lists the other app’s numbers.

Frequently asked questions

How do you work out the credit card fee on any amount?

Multiply the amount by 0.03. On $85 the fee is $2.55, on $240 it is $7.20, and on $37.50 it is $1.125, which rounds to $1.13. The same 3% applies to a credit card contribution to a pool, so a $60 contribution costs $1.80.

Do these fees apply outside the United States?

No figure here is a guide to another country's fees. They are US dollar amounts from Cash App's US pages, and Cash App says only residents of the United States can create Cash App accounts. Cash App shows the fee at the time of a credit card payment, so read that screen before you confirm. If your group spans countries, log each expense in EvenOut in the currency it was paid, since balances are kept per currency and EvenOut does not convert.

What does EvenOut cost next to these fees?

EvenOut does not move money, so it has no transfer, card or cash-out fees. Its free plan has no daily expense limit and no ads. Receipt scanning and the assistant are the paid features, at $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year in the US.
