Splitwise withdrawal limit: weekly tiers, fees and steps
Quick answer
As of October 2026, Splitwise's Payments terms put Splitwise Pay transactions under weekly tiers of $800, $2,000 or $7,000, assigned at Splitwise's discretion. A standard withdrawal to a linked bank account costs nothing. An instant withdrawal costs 1.75%, with a $0.25 minimum and a $25 maximum. To learn your tier, email payments.help@splitwise.com. EvenOut records payments and does not move money, so no withdrawal limit applies.
Key points
- The terms give one weekly cell with three tiers: $800, $2,000 or $7,000. Splitwise picks the tier and support can tell you yours.
- A standard transfer to your bank costs $0.00. An instant withdrawal costs 1.75%, never less than $0.25 and never more than $25.
- To withdraw, open the wallet, tap Manage, then Withdraw, then Transfer. Only available funds that are not pending can move.
- EvenOut records payments only, so no withdrawal limit applies. Its free plan has no daily expense limit and no ads. Splitwise's free plan allows up to 4 expenses a day, as of October 2026.
- If the weekly tier applies to your transfer, a $2,400 payout takes 3 weeks at the $800 tier and 1 week at the $7,000 tier.

What is the Splitwise withdrawal limit?
As of October 2026, Splitwise sets limits in weekly tiers rather than as one withdrawal figure. Its Payments Services terms, last updated September 28, 2026, hold a single limits cell that reads “Weekly: $800, $2000, or $7000”, with the tier “applied in our discretion”. Which of the three you get is Splitwise’s call, and the terms point you to payments.help@splitwise.com to learn the limit on your own account.
That one cell sits beside several kinds of transaction, including ACH debit transfers from a linked account, Splitwise Pay transfers between people, pulls from a linked card, ACH credit transfers, pushes to a linked card and Splitwise Card purchases. No row is labelled withdrawal.
The terms add three caveats. Not every transaction type is open to every user. Splitwise can change the limits with notice. And for security and fraud protection it may set other limits on a single transaction, or decline one and text you to confirm it.
Splitwise Pay itself is for US residents aged 18 or older, and it handles payments in US dollars.
What does a weekly tier mean for a big payout?
If the weekly tier applies to a transfer out, it decides how many weeks a large balance takes to leave the wallet. Say a trip leaves $2,400 in your wallet and the weekly tier applies to the transfer to your bank.
| Your tier | Most you can move in a week | Weeks to move $2,400 |
|---|---|---|
| $800 | $800 | 3 ($800, $800, $800) |
| $2,000 | $2,000 | 2 ($2,000, then $400) |
| $7,000 | $7,000 | 1 |
The terms apply the same tiers to Splitwise Pay transfers between people, so the figure is not specific to withdrawals. It is worth knowing before a trip settles all at once.
How do you withdraw money from Splitwise Pay?
Splitwise’s help center gives five steps. They work only when a bank account is already connected and the money is available, meaning it is not pending.
- Open the Splitwise mobile app.
- Tap the green wallet icon in the left-hand corner.
- Next to your available balance, tap “Manage”.
- Tap “Withdraw”.
- Tap “Transfer” at the bottom of the screen.
No bank account yet? Tap the green wallet icon, tap the gear icon, then choose “Add a funding source”. Only an individual checking account in your own name works for sending money and for withdrawing to a bank. A joint account that includes you is accepted and may need a bank statement as proof. Business, trust and other non-personal accounts are not supported. Splitwise’s article on account types does not recommend savings accounts, and its funding source article lists them as unsupported.
What does a withdrawal cost?
A standard electronic transfer to your bank costs $0.00, and so does the monthly fee. The fee table lists one charge for taking money out: the instant option, which pays out to a linked debit card or an eligible bank account. As of October 2026 it costs 1.75%, with a $0.25 minimum and a $25 maximum, and Splitwise shows the fee on the page before you confirm.
Three amounts show how the minimum and the maximum work:
- $10 instant: 1.75% is 17.5 cents, so the $0.25 minimum applies.
- $400 instant: 1.75% is $7.00.
- $2,000 instant: 1.75% would be $35.00, so the $25 maximum applies.
Your own bank can charge its own fees on top, and Splitwise says to ask your bank about those.
How long do transfers take?
The instant withdrawal option pays out at once, at the fee above, and deposits from an outside bank account are applied to your wallet within two business days of the effective date. Splitwise’s availability rules say some customers see those funds the same day, depending on risk factors. Business days run Monday to Friday with federal holidays left out, and a deposit received after midnight Eastern Time is processed the next business day.
Why can’t you withdraw from Splitwise Pay?
A withdrawal can be blocked by one of five things:
- The money is still pending. A payment sent from an external bank account can take up to 3 to 5 business days to reach the recipient’s wallet, so money you are owed may not be there yet. A payment to someone who has not activated Splitwise Pay expires after 14 days and goes back to the sender.
- Splitwise is holding the deposit. The terms say that while a deposit is on hold you may not withdraw those funds.
- The account is still being approved. After you enable Splitwise Pay the account may be pending for 1 to 2 business days.
- No eligible account is connected. Only a personal checking account in your name works, savings accounts are not recommended, and a debit card can only withdraw money you received through Splitwise Pay.
- Splitwise is reviewing a transfer. The terms say payments are subject to review and can be delayed or frozen if Splitwise or its bank partner identifies an issue.

What if the limit is in your way?
Email payments.help@splitwise.com and ask which tier your account is in. If the tier applies to your payout and is too low for it, you can move the money in weekly pieces, as in the table above.
You can also settle outside the wallet. In Splitwise, “Settle up” lets you record a payment made another way, and how Splitwise settle up works covers the steps. If you record one by mistake, undoing a settle up explains how to take it back.
Does EvenOut have a withdrawal limit?
No. EvenOut has no wallet, so there is no withdrawal and no weekly tier to hit. “Settle up” records a payment you made some other way, and partial payments work, so a $2,400 balance paid in three transfers is three entries. EvenOut only records payments and does not move money, so it cannot replace a wallet transfer.
The free plan has no daily expense limit and no ads. Splitwise’s free plan allows up to 4 expenses a day, as of October 2026. Charts, search and repeating expenses are free in EvenOut as well. If you are moving a group out of Splitwise, how to move a Splitwise group to EvenOut shows the free import.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a daily limit on Splitwise Pay withdrawals?
Splitwise's terms state the limit as weekly tiers, not a daily figure, and say that no specific frequency limits apply. They also reserve the right to set other limits on a single transaction and over a period of time for security and fraud protection.
Can I withdraw Splitwise Pay money to a debit card?
Yes, for money you received through Splitwise Pay. A connected debit card gives access to instant withdrawals, and Splitwise says debit cards can only withdraw funds you receive. To send payments to friends you must connect an eligible individual checking account.
Can I use the Splitwise Card to take out cash?
No. The terms say the Splitwise Card cannot be used for cash withdrawal at ATMs or elsewhere, and attempts to get cash with it are denied. To get money out, transfer it from your wallet to a linked bank account.
Does Splitwise charge to add money to the wallet?
A standard electronic deposit from a bank account costs $0.00, and the monthly fee is $0.00 too. Splitwise tells you to check with your own bank for any fees it may charge, because those are outside Splitwise's control.
