Can you export a Tricount? What changed and what to do now
Quick answer
As of October 2026, Tricount's app no longer has the CSV and PDF export that came with Premium, and its FAQ points you to support by email for an export. Splitwise, Settle Up, Splid, Splitser, Splittr and Cospend list exports. EvenOut has no data export, and its Splitwise import is free.
Key points
- Tricount's "Export tricount in CSV and PDF" went away with Premium, which was discontinued with the new app. The FAQ says to email support for an export, as of October 2026.
- Splitwise exports a group or friend as a spreadsheet, not marked Pro (the JSON backup is Pro only). EvenOut's free Import from Splitwise reads that spreadsheet into a new group.
- Settle Up lists CSV export outside Premium and Excel export under Premium. Splid sells Excel export as an in-app purchase.
- EvenOut has no data export. Its free plan has no daily expense limit and no ads, and charts, search and repeating expenses are free.

Can you export a tricount from the app now?
Not in the CSV and PDF form that Premium had. Tricount’s help center says “Export tricount in CSV and PDF” is no longer available, because Premium was discontinued with the new app. Personal mode went the same way. As of October 2026, its FAQ tells you to email support for an export.
Tricount announced the new app as a beta on 14 May 2024, and a wider rollout began on 1 July 2024. A group that still relies on the old export button will not find it.
How do you get your data out of Tricount now?
- Email support. Tricount’s FAQ gives
support@bunq.comfor an export request. Name the tricount and say what you want to keep. - Take screenshots meanwhile. Capture the balances, the repayments the app proposes and the expense list. A screenshot is a stopgap while you wait for the export.
- Ask before you leave. Make the request before you delete your profile or stop using the group.
What should you ask for in the email?
Ask for what a spreadsheet would hold: for each expense, the date, the description, the amount, who paid and who shared it. Add the transfers and income, since Tricount records those as transaction types next to expenses. If any expense was entered in another currency, ask for the daily rate used, because Tricount converts those amounts to the tricount’s currency at the market rate. Finish with each person’s final balance, so you can check the file against what the app shows.
Which split apps have an export, and what does it cost?
Splitwise, Settle Up, Splid, Splitser, Splittr and Cospend list an export of some kind, and the table says what each costs where the company says. EvenOut has none. The table is as of October 2026.
| App | What it exports | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| EvenOut | No data export | Not offered |
| Tricount | In-app CSV and PDF removed. The FAQ says to email support | Premium, which had the export, was discontinued |
| Splitwise | A spreadsheet of a group or friend, and a JSON backup | The spreadsheet is not marked Pro. The JSON backup is Pro only |
| Settle Up | CSV by email, and Excel | CSV is listed outside Premium. Excel is a Premium item |
| Splid | PDF or Excel summaries | Excel is an in-app purchase. No price is listed for the PDF |
| Splitser | CSV or PDF | No separate price listed |
| Splittr | PDF and CSV | No separate price listed |
| Cospend | CSV import and export, compatible with IHateMoney and Splitwise | No price. Open source, and it runs inside a Nextcloud server |
For Splid, Splitser and Splittr, check what the export costs in the app before you plan around it.
Where is the Splitwise export button?
On the web, open the group or friend from the left sidebar, click the gear icon in the top right and choose Export Spreadsheet. In the mobile app, open the group or friend, scroll the menu in the header to the right and tap Export at the end. Exporting your Splitwise data has the full steps, and exporting Splitwise to Tricount covers moving a group the other way.
What if you want a new app instead of a file?
EvenOut has no data export, so it does not help with taking a history out of a group. For a new group, its free plan has no daily expense limit and no ads, and it keeps repeating expenses, charts and search free. If the group came from Splitwise, “Import from Splitwise” under Account reads the exported spreadsheet and builds the group for free.
What should you do next?
Decide what you need to keep. If it is the history of a tricount, write to support before you stop using it and take screenshots in the meantime. If you want an app with an export button, the Splitwise spreadsheet and Settle Up’s CSV are listed outside the paid plans. Frequently asked questions
How long does Tricount keep an account nobody uses?
Tricount's terms say an account that is not in any user profile and has not been accessed for 24 months is made unavailable, then removed within the next 12 months. If you want a record, ask for it well before that.
How long does it take to delete a Tricount profile?
You can delete it in the app under Profile, then Delete Profile, or by email. Tricount says the profile is deleted within 7 days. Ask for any export before you start the deletion.
What does a Splitwise export file contain?
One row per transaction. The numbers under each person's name show the effect on that person's balance: positive if they paid or made a payment, negative if they borrowed or received one. A Cost column holds the total of each transaction.
Can EvenOut read a Tricount export?
EvenOut's import is built for Splitwise spreadsheets (Account, then Import from Splitwise). It brings in one group per file with its expenses, payments, dates and currencies. A Tricount group would be added by hand.
