Can you share a Hulu account with family?
Quick answer
Yes, with the people in your household, and not with anyone outside it. Hulu's terms say you may not share your subscription outside of your household, which means the devices at your primary personal residence and the people who live there. Ad-supported Hulu lists 2 screens at once. At $12.49 a month, three people at home pay about $4.16 each.
Key points
- Hulu's terms bar sharing outside your household: the devices at your primary personal residence, used by the people who live there.
- Ad-supported Hulu is $12.49 a month or $124.99 a year as of October 2026. Paying yearly saves $24.89 against 12 monthly payments.
- The plan lists 2 screens at the same time, which is about $6.25 a month per screen. A screen is a stream, not a person.
- Three people at home split $12.49 as $4.16, $4.16 and $4.17, and the yearly $124.99 as $41.66, $41.66 and $41.67.

What does Hulu’s household rule say?
Hulu’s terms say that, unless your service tier permits otherwise, “you may not share your subscription outside of your household.” That is the rule on who can use the account, as of October 2026. The terms define a household as “the collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence that are used by the individuals who reside therein.”
The rule is about where people live, not how closely they are related. By the definition’s words, a brother who lives with you is inside it. A parent or cousin who lives in another home is outside it, and they need a subscription of their own. A roommate who lives at the address falls within “the individuals who reside therein” too.
How many screens can you use at once?
Hulu lists “Watch on 2 different screens at the same time” for ad-supported Hulu. A screen is a stream playing at one moment, not a person. Two people in different rooms use both screens, and a third has to wait. A household of four or five can run into the limit on a busy evening even though everyone is allowed to use the account. Read more on what concurrent streams are.
The household rule sets who may use the account, and the screen limit sets how many can watch together. Dividing the price by the screens gives $12.49 / 2 = $6.245, about $6.25 a month per screen. That figure is a way to compare plans. It is not a price Hulu charges.
What does Hulu cost per person?
As of October 2026, Hulu’s annual offer page lists ad-supported Hulu at $12.49 a month or $124.99 a year. Twelve monthly payments come to $149.88, so paying yearly saves $24.89, or about $2.07 a month. Ten monthly payments come to $124.90, which is 9 cents under the yearly price, so yearly only wins if the plan runs 11 months or longer. Hulu + Live TV is $99.99 a month and includes Disney+ and ESPN Select.
The odd cent has to land on someone, so the shares in a split differ by a cent. These are arithmetic, not Hulu prices.
| People sharing | Monthly, $12.49 | Yearly, $124.99 |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | $6.25 and $6.24 | $62.50 and $62.49 |
| 3 | $4.16, $4.16 and $4.17 | $41.66, $41.66 and $41.67 |
| 4 | $3.12 three times and $3.13 | $31.25 three times and $31.24 |
Paying yearly makes one person front $124.99 at once. Hulu’s annual offer page says there are no refunds or credits for partial years, so agree who fronts it before the renewal date, and agree what happens if someone moves out partway through the year.
How do you split the bill at home?
Pick one person to hold the account and pay Hulu. Everyone else repays them their share. In EvenOut, the setup takes four steps:
- Create a “Household” group and add the people who live with you.
- Add the Hulu charge as an expense, “Paid by you”, with the Subscriptions category and “Split equally”. Tap anyone who does not watch to leave them out.
- Set “Repeat” to “Monthly”, or “Yearly” if you pay once a year. EvenOut then adds each later charge for you.
- When someone pays you back, tap “Settle up” and “Record payment”.
EvenOut records who paid and who owes. It does not move money, so the repayment itself goes through whatever you already use.
What should you do next?
List who lives at the address and how many screens you use at the same time. If those two numbers fit ad-supported Hulu, pick monthly or yearly and write down who pays Hulu. A relative in another home needs their own account. Disney+ treats people outside the home differently, with an Extra Member slot, and can you share Disney+ with family covers the conditions. Peacock’s household rule is written up in sharing a Peacock account. Shared subscription plans compared lines up the other services side by side.
Frequently asked questions
Does Hulu limit how many people can use one account?
Hulu's limit is on screens, 2 at the same time on the ad-supported plan, and its household rule decides who may use the account. Two people at home can watch at once. A third person starting a stream would be over the 2 screen limit, so someone has to stop or wait.
How do you split Hulu + Live TV?
As of October 2026, Hulu + Live TV is $99.99 a month and includes Disney+ and ESPN Select. Its Premium version is $109.99. Three people pay $33.33 each on the $99.99 plan. Hulu also lists a $49.99 first month for new and eligible returning subscribers, ending at 9:00 AM PT on October 26, 2026, which makes a first month of $16.66, $16.66 and $16.67 before it renews at $99.99.
How do you divide a price that does not split into whole cents?
One person pays the odd cent. $12.49 across 3 people is $4.16, $4.16 and $4.17, which adds back to $12.49. EvenOut's equal split shares out the remainder cents for you, so the total is always exact and nobody has to decide who pays the extra cent.
