Splitwise Pro alternatives in 2027: what you get free
Quick answer
EvenOut's free plan covers four of the ten items on Splitwise's Pro page: no daily expense limit (Splitwise's free plan allows 4 expenses a day), expense search, spending charts and no ads. EvenOut Pro, $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, covers receipt scanning and the assistant, and nothing else in EvenOut is paid.
Key points
- EvenOut has no daily expense limit on its free plan, where Splitwise's free plan allows 4 expenses a day.

What does Splitwise Pro include?
As of October 2026, Splitwise’s Pro page lists these features: no daily expense limit, transaction import (currently US only), currency conversion, receipt scanning, itemization, charts and graphs, expense search, default splits, an ad-free experience and early access to new features. Free accounts can add up to 4 expenses each day. Splitwise’s store listings add 10GB of cloud storage for receipts and JSON backups, which the Pro help article leaves out. For each feature in more depth, see Splitwise Pro features.
The help center names three plan shapes: Individual with a Trip Pass (an annual subscription for one person), Duo with a Trip Pass (an annual subscription for two people) and a monthly subscription for one person. Each includes every Pro feature. Splitwise’s terms say the price varies with the date you subscribe, your country, local taxes and promotions, so read the price before you pay. Splitwise Pro cost and plans explains how the billing works.
Which of those features are free in EvenOut?
Four of the ten Pro items are free in EvenOut: the limit, search, charts and the ad-free app. Receipt scanning, and the itemizing that comes from a scan, is paid in EvenOut as it is on Splitwise’s Pro list. EvenOut does not offer currency conversion, bank import, backup or default splits.
| Feature | EvenOut | Splitwise |
|---|---|---|
| No daily expense limit | Free: no daily expense limit on the free plan | Free plan allows 4 expenses a day, Pro removes it |

| Charts and graphs | Free: spending charts for a group or a friend | On the Pro list |

| Early access to new features | Pro: “New AI features land in Pro first.” | On the Pro list |
| Cloud storage for receipts (store listings) | Free: one photo on each expense | 10GB, per its store listings |
EvenOut Pro is $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year in the US. It covers receipt scanning and the assistant, which answers questions about balances and drafts expenses for you to confirm.
What does 4 expenses a day mean on a real trip?
Say you log every expense on a 9 day trip, 5 a day. That is 45 expenses. At 4 a day a free Splitwise account covers 36 of them (4 times 9), and 9 do not fit. Each of the 9 has to wait for the limit to reset, be added by a friend as paid by you, or be covered by Pro. In EvenOut all 45 go in on the free plan. Splitwise alternatives with no daily expense limit shows which other apps state no cap.
How do search, charts and itemizing work in EvenOut?
- Search. Inside a group, the search icon takes a name, a category or an amount: “45” finds $45.00 to $45.99 and “45.50” finds that exact amount. The Groups tab searches every group and friend at once. It runs on the phone, so it works offline. It does not search notes or comments.
- Charts. Each group and each friend has a “By category” donut and an “Over time” bar chart by month. Splitwise’s Pro page says its charts break spending down by category and show trends over time.
- Itemizing. The “By item” split takes a name and a price for each line and chips for who had it, and each line splits evenly among those people. The items must add up to the expense total, so tax and tip go in as lines of their own. EvenOut does not show each person’s total while you build it. Splitwise’s help center also lists an itemized split (items, tax, tip and discounts), and on mobile Pro users can itemize by scanning a receipt.
What does EvenOut have that Splitwise’s Pro list does not?
The assistant is one. It answers questions about groups, balances and who owes whom, and it drafts expenses, payments and groups that nothing records until you confirm. It cannot edit or delete anything. The other is control over who changes what. A group owner can set “Who can edit” to “Everyone” or “Only their own”, and can give someone the Viewer role, which sees everything and can comment but cannot add or change expenses. Splitwise’s help center says it has no group admins or special permissions, and that anyone involved in an expense or its group can view, edit or delete it.
What does EvenOut not offer from Splitwise’s Pro list?
Currency conversion. Splitwise keeps each currency as its own balance by default (its help center shows “You owe $12.45 and you are owed £8.72”), and Pro adds a “Convert to [default currency]” button. EvenOut works like Splitwise’s default: each expense keeps the currency you log it in, and balances are kept per currency with no conversion anywhere. Does Splitwise convert currency covers what Pro changes.
Backup and bank import. The JSON account backup is for Pro subscribers only, while Splitwise’s spreadsheet export for a friend or a group is not marked Pro. EvenOut has no data export. Splitwise’s transaction import works only in the US, and EvenOut does not import bank transactions.
Split methods and default splits. Splitwise also lists adjustment and reimbursement splits. EvenOut has five methods: equally, exact amounts, percent, shares and by item. Pro’s default splits set a split once “so that every expense you add is automatically divided the way you prefer”. EvenOut has no saved default, so you choose the method on each expense.
How should you choose?
EvenOut fits a reader who is looking because of the 4 a day limit: its free plan removes the limit and also has search, charts and no ads.
- You hit the 4 a day limit and want search, charts and no ads without paying. EvenOut covers all of them on the free plan, and expense splitting apps without ads compares the other ad-free apps.
- You want receipts read into items. Splitwise Pro and EvenOut Pro both scan them. Compare the two prices before you pay, because Splitwise’s price changes with country and date, and see AI bill splitting apps for what the scanning and assistants do. Spliit, a free open source app, lists an AI receipt scan in beta. It has no accounts, and its privacy policy says anyone who has a group’s link can read the group and change it.
- You split in two currencies and want one total. Splitwise Pro converts, and Tricount, Settle Up, KittySplit’s Super Kitty and SplitPro describe conversion on their own pages. EvenOut shows separate lines per currency.
- You need a file of your data. Splitwise’s spreadsheet export is not marked Pro. EvenOut cannot export.
How do you move a group from Splitwise to EvenOut?
Export the group from Splitwise as a spreadsheet, then go to Account, Data, Import from Splitwise in EvenOut and choose the file. It creates one new group and asks you to match people by name. How to move a Splitwise group to EvenOut has the full steps, the Splitwise daily limit guide covers the export, and EvenOut vs Splitwise sets the two apps side by side. If Splitwise is not the app you are leaving, see the Tricount alternatives and the Settle Up alternatives.
Frequently asked questions
If one person in a group has Splitwise Pro, do the others see what they do?
Partly. Splitwise says only Pro subscribers can convert currency or scan and itemize receipts, but all group members see the results. A yearly plan also includes one Trip Pass, which can be applied to any trip group of your choosing and grants Pro features to its members for 30 days.
Will my Splitwise balances carry over to EvenOut?
Yes. Import from Splitwise is free and reads one spreadsheet into one new group, with dates, currencies and every balance. EvenOut rebuilds a payer and an exact split that gives the same balances, so the original split methods, percentages and notes are not recovered, and categories it cannot match become General. The file can be up to 2 MB, 20,000 rows and 100 members.
Does EvenOut have any cap at all?
There is no daily expense limit on the free plan. EvenOut does have guards against abuse that an ordinary group never reaches: 200 people in a group, 200 items on one expense, and 1,000 new expenses and payments a day. Edits, deletes and repeats do not count toward the daily figure.
What do EvenOut's free charts show compared with Splitwise's Pro charts?
Splitwise's Pro page says its charts break spending down by category and show trends over time. EvenOut's free charts do both for one group or one friend at a time: a donut by category (tap a slice to see its expenses) and monthly bars over time. A chip row switches between everyone's full amounts, your share or one person's share. They do not combine all your groups.
